Pavilion C-5
The theme of the work carried out in the Laboratory of Functional Materials for Energy Applications is focused on materials such as metallic and ceramic materials, super-ionic conductors, semiconductors, dielectrics and magnetics. The relationship between the structure, method of preparation and functional properties, the ability to shape and the design of materials with specific functions for applications in energy, electronics and medicine and other important areas of the economy. The program includes the lab design, non-conventional preparation methods and surface modification of materials in order to obtain the necessary properties for usage in modern technology.
The subject of the research projects that can be implemented in a laboratory will includeenergy issues in the following technologic areas:
The work carried out in the laboratory will open up new possibilities for the study of, amongothers, nanostructure materials, which determine the properties of the materials in the macro scale (practical applications of materials) especially working often in extreme conditions in the sectors of conventional, nuclear and renewable energy. The research will be carried out within the framework of interdisciplinary research projects. Projects will cover chemistry, physics, materials science and advanced functional materials for renewable energy, photo-catalysis and gas sensors, as well as the widely understood economy of hydrogen. They will cover a wide spectrum of materials research.
The laboratory, having research and commercial qualities, will focus on the following project groups:
